Student Clubs
SDMCET has a strong tradition of student bodies and clubs that attract students from all disciplines. It is one of the features that infuses Dharwad with a singular charm, a unique advantage over other university campuses.
The Robotics Club and the Aero Modelling Club are an active example, motivating students from various disciplines. The club distributes low cost kits, conducts workshops and also organizes competitions. Annual workshops, under guidance from experts, are organized regularly to encourage more students to join the club. Competitions are held after the workshop and prizes are awarded to encourage students.
The Reflection Team of SDMCET strives to hone the all-round talents of an individual who wishes to master the universal language – ENGLISH. It facilitates a variety of events that engage you as a listener and a participant. The club hosts literary events like what’s the good work, mock press, dumb charades , debates , ship wreck , sansad sangram(mock parliament ) and a lot more events which serve as great platforms for the students of SDMCET to exhibit their written and speaking talents. It is responsible for nearly 15 activities in Insignia every year. Team Reflections possesses the seriousness associated with a literature club however it also possesses the fun, energy and enthusiasm associated with any college club.
The Leaders Accelerating Development (LEAD) Program of Deshpande Foundation, Hubballi, Karnataka fosters innovative and entrepreneurial thinking within college students by exposing them to social issues and by encouraging them to volunteer their time and effort into the community. LEAD ignites their latent talent to come up with creative solutions. LEAD is an incubator where innovation meets implementation, knowledge meets experience, social issues meet solutions and efforts meet impact.
The SDMCET dance club is the most happening club in the campus. Consisting of 6 teams they leave the audience awestruck and “once more” is never enough! The brilliant dancers have taken dance to a new level and won many laurels for our college. Our dancers have proved that dancing with the feet is one thing, and dancing with the heart is another!
Life is short, add some drama to it. Life without drama would be utterly boring! Experts in various genres, the members of this club are multi-talented. Rib-tickling comedy or pinching sarcasm or emotional drama, the level of acting, directing and script writing can be compared to those on the silver screen. Their street plays/stage plays put light on today’s issues that need to be addressed, and they are put across beautifully and very powerfully.
The Music Club of SDMCET consists of a bunch of extremely talented musicians who can bring tears to your eyes and touch your soul at one point and can make you head-bang in the craziest way at the next point, such is their talent. This club gives a platform for young budding talents to become the best in what they do. Our versatile performers never fail to inspire us each time they set foot on stage. Even their routine practice sessions blow our minds away!
